Flat J update: Flat J has been around the world, literally. Most recently he was on the Reagan for a short time, but did not make it to the bridge...turns out Buk was super busy learning his new job and worried what the Captain would think of his two dimensional friend. J understood, good first impressions and all...
He also went to Singapore with Ginger and Vegas over Thanksgiving weekend (he was, of course invited to participate in Buk Bowl, but remembering the $.18 win on his Alaskan cruise he could not pass up the chance to add more to his winnings...maybe enough to purchase Daphne a whole pack of gum).
While the pictures are not here as proof right now, Flat J continues to be active and real J continues to serve his country somewhere out there in the sandbox. While it may not look much like Christmas there, we are all reminded especially this time of year, of the sacrifice J and his family are making for our country. We are grateful, thankful and in awe of J and his family, Daphne, Little Man and Miss G, for their grace during this time and want J to know he remains in our hearts.

Flat J and the wildlife

One of J's favorite parts of Alaska was the wildlife. He really liked the bears and was brave enough to pose with both a Brown bear and two polar bears!! After all that excitement, J took a walk on the wild side himself at the casino. He really went crazy on the $.02 slots! He won $.18 and pledged to buy Daphne something really nice with it when he gets home!

Flat J really enjoyed cruising to Alaska with the Buks... he tried to get into the bridge to navigate the ship, but his flight suit and rank did not get him anywhere near the actual controls. J did find a map and spent some time backseat navigating...

J also met some Russian friends on the ship...he fit right in and has a job waiting for him if the whole Navy thing does not work out!

Flat J dines out

J talked his whole office into crashing a dining out recently and as you tell he had a great time! J was an upstanding officer at the beginning of the night when he was talking with the CO of the command, but as you can see things literally turned around from then on. J had some upside down fun with Buk and Ginger, made a few too many trips to the grog, really enjoyed the Sandeman (in honor of his former command) and ended up on the floor at the end of the night.

Flat J goes to Alaska

Recently, flat J took a trip with the Buks to Alaska. While out on the high seas he met a couple of pirates... J was super excited to meet real live pirates!

Later in the day J even met Darth Vader...it was a strange day for J...

The conception of Flat J

The real "J." was to be sent on an IA in some faraway land. His ever so silly wife thought it a good idea to buy their little man a daddy doll. While she explained this to a friend the brilliant friend said ....."well, that's a neat idea about the doll....oooh you know what we should do...make a flat J. He can travel all over and do stuff with people at the office." And that's how flat J. was born. We hope his real counterpart will enjoy his many adventures and the spinoffs of flat J. as well. There are many contributors to this blog so you will get quite the mix of opinions, anecdotes and pictures. Here's to the adventures of Flat J. !!!
